Pacoima Beautiful is part of an exciting collaborative effort to Clean up and Green up Los Angeles through smarter land use policy. The aim is to address the cumulative impacts of pollution combined with other vulnerabilities (such as lack of access to necessary resources like healthcare and education) by preventing and reducing pollution and revitalizing communities like Pacoima and Sun Valley.
On Wednesday evening, October 6th,PB members and organizers met at a gathering hosted by East LA partner organization Union de Vecinos. Also in attendance were Huntington Park’s Coalition for a Better Environment (CBE) and Wilmington’s Coalition for a Safe Environment (CFASE),all collaborators on our policy initiative to address cumulative environmental impacts.
At the well-attended gathering we spent time building inter-organizational relationships, learning the city’s legislative process and planning the official launch of our campaign. The collaborative will focus on land use policy in its November community gathering. For more pictures from the evening’s meeting, check out our Flickr page!
