Cal Poly Pomona Student Films on the San Fernando Valley

Cal Poly Pomona students in Professor Lehrman’s Landscape Architecture class recently put together videos describing some of the issues we face in the San Fernando Valley,possibilities for the future,and interviewed our staff.  All three projects propose community gardens and improvements to public spaces –which we are currently working on!

The River that Could

This is a great overview of our Pacoima Wash work and our concern for improving water quality and providing parks at the same time!  It also showcases some exciting ideas from the students themselves.  This film is by Rico Molden,Carly McNeill,and Garrett Reger.

 

The Urban Quilt of San Fernando Valley

This film gives an overview of the environmental burdens we’re up against,our work here at PB.  It also showcases the students’proposals to create an “urban quilt”by turning the Sunshine Canyon Landfill site into a community asset,and promoting health through Green Streets.  This film is by Jonathan Alarcon,Yorvin Moreno,and Rene Orta.


A New Vision for Hansen Dam

This film centers around the Hansen Dam and recreation park in Pacoima,and the students’new vision for the Dam. It is by Kelly Espinoza,Rey Rebolledo,and Karla Benitez.
