Yesenia Cruz
Youth Organizer

Yesenia was born in Oaxaca, Mexico, and raised in Sonoma County in Northern California. After transferring from Santa Rosa Junior College she graduated from California State University, Northridge with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Chicana and Chicano Studies. During her college career she became very involved in community and school organizations like MEChA where she gained valuable skills in student organizing and social justice work. Her skill set has continued to develop with her work with various nonprofits focused on youth and social justice. As a Youth Organizer at Pacoima beautiful, she focuses on supporting youth through YUTEP, tutoring and College Corner to promote and provide resources to make higher education more accessible. She is passionate about empowering youth through education as she believes that it is a tool to create change in our communities.
