Outreach Manager

Status: Full-Time (non-exempt), some evening and weekend hours required.

Pacoima Beautiful (PB) is a grassroots environmental justice non-profit organization located in the Northeast San Fernando Valley. Our mission is to provide education, impact public policy, and support local arts and culture in order to promote a healthy and sustainable San Fernando Valley.

Position Summary

Pacoima Beautiful is looking for someone that is reliable and committed to serve as the Outreach Manager to support the Director of Planning with the Community Engagement Plan and Displacement Avoidance Plan. This person will manage a team of three or more to support our partners with their in-person, digital and various methods of outreach to ensure that partners reach their deliverables. We’re looking for someone creative that is excited to develop meaningful connections with residents and organizations, so that the community can benefit from green resources and the infrastructure improvements they deserve!

Job Skills and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an outreach plan for Green Together partners for remaining grant time (3 yrs) to ensure that partners meet grant deliverables
  • Collaborate with GTC partners, supporting and expanding upon their organizing efforts
  • Spearhead outreach efforts for the Community Engagement Plan for Pacoima Beautiful
  • Develop understanding of project participants, area, and needs to better service community with GTC resources
  • Recruit a team of part time canvassers to support with outreach
  • Manage the schedule and duties of part time canvassers, ensuring that they are well-equipped with the necessary information and tools in order to answer community questions and concerns about projects and resources
  • Attend monthly Green Together Coalition & Communication Working Group meetings to collaborate, brainstorm and update partners on outreach and project progress
  • Support with annual grant reporting, tracking project outreach and progress
  • Support with Displacement Avoidance Plan (DAP) action items, to help build tenant and small business coalitions within project area
  • Assist and support with GTC-related projects as they are introduced
  • Direct community members to other Pacoima Beautiful programs as needed
  • This position is contracted for 2 years with potential of extension.

Experience and Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of Community Organizing experience, looking for someone that has a passion working with communities of color and/or underserved communities
  • Experience in Coalition Building across organizations
  • Familiarity with Political Data Intelligence (PDI), text and phone banking services (I.e. ThruText), Customer Relationship Management software (CRM)
  • Must be able to demonstrate outreach progress and strategies through data collection
  • Valid CA Driver’s License and Current insurance; Must have reliable transportation
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong written and interpersonal skills
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to accommodate outreach activities
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Hybrid work; remote work with in-person commitments.

  • Spanish speaker
  • Bachelor's degree in one of the following: Political Science, Sociology, Ethnic Studies, Urban Planning, Humanities field

Health insurance applicable after completion of successful 3-month probation period (dental and eye not included), 5 vacation days, with one flex day available every month. A cost-of-living adjustment after first annual review.
