The David M. Gonzales Park Renovation Project proposes to create and enhance green infrastructure that will reduce residents’ vulnerability to the adverse health effects of high temperatures and air pollution. Climate change impacts will magnify this burden, making the community especially vulnerable to respiratory illness and increase heat island effect. The Project seeks to improve elements that help clean the air by planting trees to sequester carbon and provide shade to reduce high temperatures.
