Jardín Pacoima was created to meet a vital need in our neighborhood: access to fresh, healthy food. What was once a neglected space plagued by illegal dumping has been transformed into a vibrant sidewalk edible garden—the only one of its kind in the San Fernando Valley. This special garden not only offers fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs that are free for the community to take as needed, but also stands as a symbol of what is possible when neighbors come together with a shared vision. Jardín Pacoima is more than just a garden; it’s a space for connection, care, and resilience—a place where relationships grow just as abundantly as the plants.
Every first Friday of the month, dedicated community members gather at the garden to take care of this shared space. They water the plants, clean up the area, and make sure it continues to thrive for all who pass by. These monthly gatherings are a powerful example of collective care—neighbors showing up for one another and investing time and energy into something that feeds both body and spirit.
