This year, we were proud to partner with the Pacoima Farmer's Market, hosted by El Nido Family Centers, to make our annual Prende El Sol more exciting and impactful than ever. Held in the heart of our community, this special collaboration brought together fresh local produce, valuable community resources, and a fun-filled day focused on the power and potential of solar energy.
The festival offered something for all ages, with hands-on demonstrations and activities designed to spark curiosity and inspire action. Attendees had the chance to race solar-powered cars, experience a jumper completely powered by solar panels, and learn how solar energy can be used in everyday life to reduce our environmental impact and lower energy costs.
To keep the community actively engaged, we introduced a fun raffle challenge. Guests were encouraged to visit each of the participating resource tables, collect stamps on their festival passport, and enter for a chance to win a free air purifier. Congratulations to the 20 lucky families who went home with this practical and powerful prize to help improve the air quality in their homes!
We’re deeply grateful to our incredible partners and tabling organizations who helped make the day such a success: Trust for Public Land, Refugee Children Center, The GR818ERS, North Los Angeles County Regional Center, LADOT Transit, ONYX POWER, The Social Impact Center, GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles, UCLA Luskin Center for Innovation, Makita, and LA Conservation Corps.
