Home Composting & Urban Gardening

This workshop will teach you how to turn kitchen scraps and yard trimmings into a nutrient-rich soil amendment. Home composting is taught by a team of ten rotating LA Sanitation & Environment green waste specialists. Each participant will take home a free garden plant at the end of the event. Some workshops even have surprise guests!

Build your civic knowledge and power in this engaging workshop on policy and civic education. Participants will gain a high-level overview of how federal, state, county, and city governments work, including policies, measures, and ordinances—who creates them and how communities can influence decisions. We'll also explore key topics like Proposition 4, the City of Los Angeles' policy efforts to replace Prop K, and LA County's Urban Natureways framework.
