Hazel Agustin

Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, Hazel holds great pride in claiming Arleta/Pacoima as her hometown. She cherishes her Filipino upbringing and culture, especially growing up adjacent to the flourishing neighborhood of Panorama City. She holds a BA in English and minor in Journalism from MSMU, as well as a Masters in TESOL from USC Rossier’s School of Education.

Hazel’s whole career trajectory has been focused on improving the day-to-day lives of marginalized folxs in Los Angeles. She was formerly an English as a Second Language educator – focused on encouraging and uplifting immigrant, migrant, and refugee learners from all over the globe. Hazel’s sensitivity to and empathy for communities in need continues as she transitions into non-profit work with Pacoima Beautiful as their Communications Assistant. While at PB, she is dedicated to becoming part of the active community outreach that has transformed this city and its community members for the better. 

Outside of work, Hazel enjoys immersing herself in novels, staying creative with film photography and ceramics/pottery, and supporting other SFV creatives. You’ll typically find Hazel sitting at a local coffee shop reading endlessly or at a nearby park people watching!
